When I moved to London I came to stay with my cousin Sarah. She’s been here for a good few years and is an old hand at getting to grips with a new city. When I arrived at a quarter to one in the morning she met me and my suitcases at the train, very generously gave me a set of keys to her apartment, an A-Z of London and stacks of advice and support over the first few weeks. One of the nuggets of information she passed on was about Morley College and the many classes they run. I’ve always wanted to make my own quilt since seeing Little Women so I signed up for patchwork and quilting class.

On Saturday I attended my first Frizzle Circle workshop (brainchild of Sarah!) and made the little monster above! I’ve named him Nigel. I’d made the little sausage dog from a set I got in the Imperial War Museum, I love sausage dogs! My colleagues know me well enough at this stage and last week made me a birthday card with a sausage dog made out of patchwork print on the front.
