Yosemite Valley floor. This may be the most perfect place I have ever been. We stopped the car and hopped down by the river. We sat on stones on the riverbank and just listened to the birds and passing cars.
I wish we could have stayed here longer, but we wanted to hit the road for Lake Tahoe. We ended up going across Ebbett’s Pass to get to Lake Tahoe, which in hindsight mightn’t have been the best decision the sat nav made for us! The scenery was beautiful but the roads were really windy, with spectacularly sharp hairpin bends. We got up to about 8,700ft above sea level on this route, and met about two vehicles in the whole time we were crossing the Pass.
We didn’t stop for any pictures, partly because there was nowhere to pull in, and partly because night had begun to fall as we crossed the pass. And we were starting to run out of fuel. I was never so happy to see the 24/7 automated gas station in Markleville!
